Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Mark Weir has won £2.7 million Lotto jackpot, and then told to his former lottery pool members, “You won’t get a penny”.

Mark is father of two children, he is 45, bought a £1 Quick Pick ticket and hit jackpot in last UK National Lottery draw. He was failing to win anything for many years before in his office lottery pool.

After picking up his winnings yesterday, Mark, from Darlington said, that the lads at his work won’t get any share.

“I paid into a lottery pool at the factory for years and never won anything to shout about. But the Quick Pick has got me the jackpot.”

He and his wife Julie, 44, are planning a shopping spree. On the top of Mark’s list is a brand new fishing gear. He also added, “I’d like a new car but now I can afford a dream model, I don’t know what to buy.”

Julie (pharmacy assistant) said, “The only thing I want is a trip to New York.”

Robert Rooke bought his Powerball lottery tickets using his own numbers from a store he used to buy in past. The clerk did a mistake and neglected to give Robert the Power Play option. Later, when he went to the store he normally buys his tickets and he asked the clerk who usually waits on him, “Do you feel lucky? I do!” He purchased some Quick Picks on the Powerball lotto making sure he got the Power Play option.

Next morning, his wife saw Powerball tickets in the kitchen and went online to check the numbers. When her husband came into the kitchen, she told him, “You don´t have any winners.” He said, “You don´t know , because I bought some other Quick Pick tickets.” He asked her to tell him the winning numbers . He said, “We´ve got 5 numbers, to be some serious money.

They realized they had won $200,000, and with the multiplier of 3, a grand total $600,000.

When they got to the shop, He handed the signed ticket to the clerk. After validating ticket, Robert told her the amount was $600,000. The Rooke´s told family and friends, but since Robert is a wellknown realtor, they knew it would not be long before everybody in town knew they had won.

The Rooke´s plan to share winnings with family and invest the rest. And, continue their tradition of playing the Powerball lottery with the Power Play option.
